The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has given motorists two months to collect their physical vehicle logbooks.
However, the authority has warned that it may dispose of documents that remain uncollected after the deadline.
NTSA keeps physical logbooks at its offices for a maximum of six months. Therefore, vehicle owners should collect their documents within the required period to avoid losing them.
NTSA Warns Motorists Over Unclaimed Logbooks
The warning follows a public notice that NTSA issued on June 11, 2026.
In the notice, the authority reminded motorists that it would not keep physical logbooks beyond the six-month period.
Additionally, NTSA warned that motorists must attach a copy of their current or original logbook when applying for services that require the document.
“Clients WILL NOT be able to access services that require a copy of logbook without attaching the current or original logbook in their application,” the authority said.
As a result, NTSA has urged vehicle owners to collect their logbooks before the deadline. This will help them avoid delays when accessing services that require the documents.
Documents Required to Collect Physical Logbooks
Motorists must carry their previous logbook and a valid identification document when collecting their physical logbooks.
They should present both documents at the relevant collection centre or NTSA office for verification.
Meanwhile, vehicle owners who have not collected their logbooks should contact the relevant offices to confirm whether their documents are available.
NTSA Introduces Digital E-Logbooks
The reminder comes after NTSA introduced its digital e-logbook system on June 10, 2026.
Under the new system, applications processed before that date still require motorists to collect physical logbooks.
However, motorists with newer applications can access digital e-logbooks through the eCitizen platform.
The transition forms part of NTSA’s efforts to digitise vehicle registration services. Consequently, motorists should confirm which type of logbook applies to their applications before seeking assistance.
Where to Get Help With Logbook Collection
Motorists who need assistance can visit the relevant NTSA offices or Huduma Centres.
Alternatively, they can contact the authority through its official social media platforms for further information.
NTSA has urged affected vehicle owners to act within the collection period. Otherwise, they risk losing access to their uncollected physical logbooks.
