President William Ruto has sent his condolences to Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan following the death of her husband, Hafidh Ameir Hassan.
Hassan died on Monday morning while receiving treatment at Emilio Mzena Memorial Hospital.
He was reportedly undergoing treatment for a heart condition at the time of his death.
Ruto shared his message of condolence on his X account on Monday, September 7, 2026.
He said Kenya stands with Tanzania as the country mourns the death of Hassan.
Ruto also extended his condolences to President Samia, her family and the people of Tanzania.
The President described Hassan as a lifelong companion to Samia and a beloved father to their children.
The death was announced by Tanzania’s Deputy President Deogratius Ndejembi.
According to the announcement, Hassan died at around 8:00 a.m. while undergoing treatment.
His death has sparked mourning in Tanzania, with messages of sympathy expected from leaders and citizens across the country.
