Ruto praises Mombasa’s SHA progress
Ruto said Mombasa currently ranks first in the country in SHA registration.
He also praised Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir for his work in the health sector.
According to the President, more than one million residents have already joined the health scheme.
He added that the government has paid KSh7.8 billion for SHA services in Mombasa.
Ruto described the progress as a major achievement for the county.
President urges other counties to follow
The President called on other counties to adopt similar measures.
He said higher SHA registration would help more Kenyans access healthcare services.
Meanwhile, the government continues to push for increased SHA enrolment across the country.
The drive forms part of the government’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda.
Through SHA, the government aims to expand access to healthcare.
The programme also seeks to reduce the financial burden of medical treatment on households.
Counties have been encouraged to mobilise residents and increase SHA registration.
Ruto said Mombasa’s experience could provide a model for other counties seeking to improve healthcare access.
