Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has arrived in Entebbe, Uganda, to represent Kenya at the 2nd Extra-Ordinary Summit of the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).
On Friday, Kindiki said on X that he is attending the summit on behalf of President William Ruto.
The summit has brought together regional leaders and officials to discuss peace and security in Somalia. They will also review the progress of the AUSSOM mission.
In addition, the leaders will discuss the mission’s future and explore new ways to support stability in Somalia.
Kenya remains one of the countries contributing troops to the mission. The country continues to support Somalia’s efforts to strengthen its security.
The leaders will also discuss the mission’s operations and funding. Finally, they will consider how to support Somalia as it takes greater responsibility for its own security.
