Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa has left the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
She announced her exit as she prepares to contest for the Kilifi governor seat in the 2027 General Election.
Jumwa made the announcement at her home in Kakuyuni, Malindi. She told journalists that frustration and humiliation pushed her to leave the party.
Jumwa Says Party Ignored Her
Jumwa said she tried to raise her concerns with President William Ruto. However, she claimed her efforts did not receive a response.
She said party leaders rejected her requests several times.
Additionally, Jumwa claimed that officials removed her from State House during a meeting between President Ruto and Coast leaders.
She said the incident contributed to her decision to quit UDA.
Former CS Explains Next Move
Jumwa said she helped form UDA but currently has no government position.
She claimed she supported the party but received no role in the current administration.
According to Jumwa, President Ruto wanted her to campaign for his re-election with a promise of a Cabinet position.
Meanwhile, she said she would soon announce her next political move.
Jumwa Calls for Calm
Jumwa asked President Ruto to allow her to pursue her political plans without interference.
She also urged Kilifi residents to remain calm as she prepares for the 2027 governor race.
Furthermore, Jumwa blamed pressure from leaders in the broad-based government arrangement for her exit.
She claimed some leaders did not want UDA to field a candidate for the Kilifi governor seat.
Finally, Jumwa maintained that she will still contest the Kilifi governor position in 2027 despite leaving UDA.
