The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested two court officials over alleged bribery.
The officials, Linet Okungu and Benard Ngeno, were arrested on September 8, 2026, in Eldoret and Nakuru.
The EACC says the two solicited and received bribes in exchange for court services.
Court assistant accused of taking Ksh.20,000
EACC officers arrested Okungu, a court assistant attached to a Magistrate’s Court, in Eldoret.
The commission accused her of receiving a Ksh.20,000 bribe after a court user filed a complaint.
The complaint claimed that a magistrate demanded Ksh.50,000 to secure a stay order.
The order would have stopped the auction of a parcel of land in a case before the court.
However, investigators arrested Okungu after she allegedly received part of the money.
Police at Eldoret Police Station processed her case before releasing her on a Ksh.20,000 cash bail.
Court process server arrested in Nakuru
Meanwhile, EACC officers arrested Ngeno in Nakuru over a separate bribery allegation.
Ngeno works as a court process server at the Nakuru Law Courts Civil Registry.
The EACC accused him of soliciting and receiving a bribe to secure a convenient mention date for a complainant’s case.
Officers then took him to the EACC South Rift Regional Office in Nakuru for processing.
The authorities later released him on a Ksh.5,000 cash bail.
EACC continues investigations
The anti-corruption agency said its investigations into both cases are still ongoing.
The EACC will complete its investigations before deciding on the next legal steps.
For now, both officials remain accused of wrongdoing. A court has not yet found them guilty of the alleged offences.
